Tips On Making Brushing Teeth Fun For Kids
Brushing your teeth has become an important part of your daily routine since you learned how to do so! But do you remember the process of learning and getting into the habit of brushing your teeth properly? This is a question a lot of parents have when teaching their antsy toddlers how long, how to properly, and how to make it a fun process for them!
Here are our 5 tips to help your toddler make the process more exciting and a routine to look forward to!
- Make it a Date
By turning “brushing our teeth” into a special event for you and your child, this motivates them to attend an event-like occasion that creates a bonding experience as well as being able to teach them the proper steps of brushing and flossing their teeth.
- Turn it into a race
Because all kids love the term “win”, by turning “brushing your teeth” into a contest, this motivates the child to compete for the best results in the amount of time it takes to brush your teeth. Create a timer of 2 minutes and whoever reaches the end of the two minutes, wins the race.
- Reward the Winner
In addition to making the experience a contest, another motivation for kids is prizes! By rewarding the child with something at the end of the contest, this motivates them to want to continue the process and create a habit of it.
- Generate Interest
Most stores that carry dental supplies carry special themed toothbrushes, toothpastes, and floss, specifically created to appeal to kids! By allowing them to choose their favorite colors or characters, this creates a fun and motivational experience that they’ll look forward to.
- The Tooth Fairy
The Tooth Fairy can be a valuable tool to use when describing to your child what they’re working towards while also implementing rewards. The shinier and more well kept the teeth that go under their pillow are, the greater the rewards. If the teeth are the opposite, this motivates them to work harder for a higher reward!
